Riding LessonsIf Only Farm specializes in teaching classical riding in hunt-seat and dressage to riders of all ages and skill levels. We emphasize the development of an effective and balanced riding position while being relaxed and confident. Skills and sensibility developed with these fundamentals creates a secure rider who can experience the joy and depth of this special sport while developing a special equine partnership.
If Only Farm owns a number of well-trained Lesson horses and ponies who can suit many different riders. If you're new to the farm, you may use our Lesson Request Form to schedule a lesson. Beginners are best suited to private lessons at first and then advancing to group lessons after they are proficient with grooming, walking, trotting, and cantering (WTC). Riders are welcome to continue with private lessons as well. Riders in a regular lesson program and who are proficient with proper horse care and WTC may schedule a "practice ride" using their usual lesson horse. Practice rides are dependent upon horse and riding ring availability, so riders should always pre-arrange practice rides with the help of their regular instructor. RIDING LESSON PACKAGES
Riding lessons are scheduled in 1/2 hour or 1 hour blocks and riders can choose to have private instruction or ride with other students. You may schedule lessons individually or purchase a riding package below to receive a discount. Borders at the farm also receive a discount on lessons and packages. *All packages must be paid in advance* See Fee Schedule for current pricing Introductory Riding Lesson Package (for beginner riders new to If Only Farm) First (1 hour) lesson includes instruction barn orientation, instruction on grooming & tacking and a 30 minute riding lesson, plus 4 (1⁄2 hr) lessons. Available only once unless more than one rider in family. Must be paid in advance 5 Lesson Package 5 (1⁄2 hr) private lessons or 5 (1 hr) group lessons. Rider must be part of the regular lesson program and able to retrieve, groom, tack and take care of the lesson horse. Must be paid in advance 10 Lesson Economy Package 10 (1⁄2) hr private lessons or 10 (1 hr) group lessons. Rider must be part of the regular lesson program and able to retrieve, groom, tack and take care of lesson horse.
