Stable Hand
If Only Farm Equestrian Center is a bustling lesson and boarding farm in Freeville, NY and is currently home to around 50 horses. We are looking for an additional part-time staff member to help with barn and horse care.
Responsibilities include feeding and watering horses, moving horses to/from the barns and turnout paddocks, cleaning and bedding stalls in the mornings, operating all-terrain vehicle to feed and water pasture board horses. Candidates with riding and teaching experience and a strong desire to work in and learn more about the equine business, horse care, training and teaching will be prioritized and can train for additional responsibilities at the farm. The staff at If Only are a dedicated and hard-working crew and we're looking for a like-minded addition to the staff who loves working with horses and is ready to grow with us.
10-15 hrs/week, generally weekday morning hours with some evening and weekend hours, as needed. Flexible scheduling and we can work with you to create a schedule that fits. This is a part-time position to start with more hours possible. We do not generally take on seasonal staff - we are looking for candidates who can commit year round.
Requirements: Must be comfortable handling horses, have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation, and MUST be dependable. Basic experience with tractors/farm equipment as well as carpentry/fences a plus.
Wages start at NY State minimum wage with higher pay possible depending on experience and once proven to be dependable. We love for our staff to participate in our riding programs and we offer a complimentary riding lesson for every 30 hours worked!
