Stable Hand
If Only Farm Equestrian Center is a bustling lesson and boarding farm in Freeville, NY and is currently home to around 50 horses. We are looking for an additional part-time staff member to help with farm and horse care.
Responsibilities include feeding and watering horses, moving horses to/from the barns and turnout paddocks, operating all-terrain vehicle to feed and water pasture board horses, and general barn and farm upkeep. Candidates with riding and teaching experience and a strong desire to work in and learn more about the equine farm business, horse care, training and teaching will be prioritized and can train for additional responsibilities at the farm. The staff at If Only are a dedicated and hard-working crew and we're looking for a like-minded addition to the staff who loves working with horses and enjoys farm and ranch work.
15-20 hrs/week, generally weekday morning shifts. This is a part-time position with more hours possible moving forward. We do not generally take on seasonal staff - we are looking for candidates who can commit year round.
Requirements: Must be comfortable handling horses, capable of and familiar with physical labor and be comfortable working in a barn or outside in all seasons. Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation, and MUST be dependable and MUST show up for scheduled shifts. Our horses require a committed team of people to care for them 365 days of the year. Basic experience with tractors, farm equipment, carpentry a plus.
